Home and Studio Reno Updates

Wondering how things are progressing in the Modern June and Oilcloth Addict studio?

Well... It's coming along, slowly but surely! As of yesterday we have a wonderful Swiss cheese ceiling that reminds me of a Dr. Who set. I am happy that we will soon have some very good lighting in the near future.

I've gone back and blogged about the reno's progress over at the Modern June blog.
As you can see things are not at all ready for us to open back up. Oh how I wish I could give an exact day-- it really kills me not knowing. I asked the contractor to be out of the studio by the end of November but we shall see if that is really possible. After all, there is still a major holiday between now that then and things are what they are.

Please sign up for our newsletter so are the first to know when we are back open! See the right hand sidebar for the sing up app, it's up on the top of the blog. ---->

Great Giveaway!

Modern June and Oilcloth Addict are very proud sponsors of this years National Tie One On Day! We are giving away a copy of Sewing with Oilcloth and a bundle of fabric. Below you'll find just a little bit about this great project! Please click over to Apron Memories to learn more!!

...Participation in NTOODay™ is simple. On the day before Thanksgiving, pause in the preparation of your own meal, wrap a loaf of bread or other baked good in an apron, tuck a prayer or note of encouragement in the pocket, and tie one on…an apron, of course! and deliver the wrapped bundle to someone without your bounty… a neighbor, friend or family member in need of physical or spiritual sustenance, a bit of recognition or just a kind word...
....To enter the NTOOD™ 2011 Goodie Giveaway, please leave your email address and a comment on this blog entry - and share how you will be participating in National Tie One On Day™, what you'll be making, baking or sewing, the beneficiary of your act of kindness, how you're putting the “give” back into Thanksgiving!

The two Goodie Giveaway Winners will be selected early Thanksgiving morning using a helpful random number selector. I’ll be contacting the two winners via email – without an email, however, alternate winners with emails will be selected...
I really wish I could enter!! This is an amazing about or loot to enjoy!! Good luck my lovelies!

Where did all the fabric go?

Some of you may remember that we lost a hundred year old tree back in August when Hurricane Irene decided to drop it on our house as she was leaving town. We are just now getting out house and studio repaired. Above are our 4 contractors up on the the studio roof, this was the day the removed the chimney. That was a VERY stressful day, let me tell you!
Up until now we've been able to deal with the damage and stay open. We've cranked up the space heaters to fight the wind that has been coming through the roof line. We've even lugged oilcloth up a step latter for a week or two. We cringed while the chimney bricks fell on the roof above us for an entire day.

My friend Kathie, the Junie Shipping Goddess of Love has a saying, "You can't keep a good Junie down!" We'll... We've discovered that even good Junies have limits!

Starting tomorrow the guys will be coming inside to work in the studio, dining room and kitchen to repair the ceilings and plaster walls. They will also be ripping off the roof to the studio. Fun. As you can imagine this is a total pain, just when we want to be thinking of the holidays, just at the busiest time of year!!!

Because of this construction work I have had to completely empty out the studio and most of our home. No studio means not cutting table. Heck, we don't even have a printer right now. Please don't fret, the guys know we need to open back up ASAP! We hope for good weather and no surprises!!! Please sign up for our newsletter (see the sidebar on the right) and we'll let you know when we are back to cutting. I am sure there will be a little coupon included!!

When we open back up I will have a few new laminated cottons to share with you all. The fabric that I bought at Quilt Market has started to come in, I know you'll love it all!! Hint... little boy prints!!!

I am very sorry for the trouble, we'll be sure to let you know when we open back up!

Wish us luck!!

Oilcloth Addict on the road!!

I can't even tell you what it's like to cut fabric out in the open! Just ask my friends Trish, Lydia, Kirsten, Suzanne and Tiffin, they know all too well that's it's totally crazy and super fun. These 5 ladies cut up a ton of my slick fabric in Columbus and Atlanta.

I have to say that it's pretty hard when it's freezing cold in the morning and your hands don't work and the oilcloth is hard. But the crowd is totally awesome and helping all those people as they go ga-ga over oilcloth, chalk cloth and laminated cotton is such fun!!!

I love that there is a show where Modern June meets Oilcloth Addict. That I can do that at the Country Living Fair is such an honor. I really do love what I do and I love sharing it with people that really get it. The CL readers rock my world!!!
Barrels of love, love, love!!
Go, Kirsten, go!!
The team work was wonderful, Kirsten and Suzanne work their tushes off in Atlanta!!

How cute are these girls? I love the look that Trish is giving me it's all, "What are you doing over there?"

Laminated Love!
The Country Living Fair in Columbus cutting table was located under the prettiest tree in the park!!!
Lydia swore she cut 50 yards of oilcloth on Friday alone. That girl can work her tail off and look super cute while doing it.
The best thing about having a cutting table at a show is having a place to do demos.
